Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando questions if hurling allegations at Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe over the present crisis, is justified.
Speaking during a media briefing yesterday, Minister Fernando said it has been only five weeks since the Prime Minister took office.
The Minister said fuel is not readily available as the country is bankrupt adding that mismanagement of the government and certain individuals led to this crisis.
Minister Fernando said the Prime Minister, Manusha Nanayakkara, nor himself are to be blamed for the present crisis.
He added the country was not in this present state when the good governance government handed over governance in 2019. The Minister claimed the country can only be uplifted by working unitedly and together.
Minister Fernando said they requested a six-month period to make a change, adding that only five weeks have lapsed.
However, he noted that many achievements have taken place during this short period including the visit by the most senior official of the US Treasury Department visiting Sri Lanka in addition to the International Monetary Fund representatives arriving in the island. He claimed the present crisis cannot be solved within a day.
