Parliamentarian Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka says a female Member of Parliament shamelessly claimed Sri Lanka should grow hemp to increase foreign reserves, adding it is against our culture.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP Fonseka claimed the government will subsequently call for the legalisation of prostitution to increase foreign reserves.
The MP stated such matters should be looked at in a spiritual aspect, adding the country should not become slaves to money.
Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said under the present government, plantations and crops are being cleared, and questioned if it is an attempt to direct farmers towards planting hemp.
He requested farmers not to fall prey to such efforts, adding that if the opposition comes into power, such measures will be halted.
