State Minister Shehan Semasinghe says a group within the government is engaged in creating an economic crisis within the country.
Speaking during an event in Ibbankatuwa today, State Minister Semasinghe said tough decisions will be reached pertaining to such individuals in future.
The State Minister said such protests would have been tolerated if carried out by the opposition adding it was unfortunate that government Ministers and Parliamentarians behaved in this manner.
He questioned what victory could be achieved by creating doubt in the public in the government.
He said it is clear that there is a third party behind the actions of these individuals.
State Minister Semasinghe claimed none of these individuals raised concerns at the special meeting convened by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa adding only Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara stated they will not inconvenience the government at any moment.
Joining the event, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Premitha Bandara Tennakoon said a decision will be taken albeit reluctantly in the future against those who are rebelling against the government while part of the government.
MP Tennakoon said all 225 MPs have their own views and opinions adding it is the nature that their own opinions cannot be enacted within the government.
He said this was the norm when working in groups.
