State Minister Shehan Semasinghe says the government still has majority power even if members of a certain political party step down.
The State Minister speaking to media in Kandy today said the government will however lose its two-thirds majority.
When inquired by journalists of recent statements by the President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, former President Maithripala Sirisena, State Minister Semasinghe said the former President makes various statements periodically, motivated by individuals around him in their attempts to disrupt the government.
The State Minister said the Former President should refrain from making such statements especially given his manner of governance since 2015.
He noted that the government has a majority that must be protected and maintained.
