Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa says the government will lose its 113 majority in Parliament in the near future.
Leaders of 11 political parties representing the government presented the national programme, ‘මුලු රටම හරි මගට’, to the Chief Prelates today.
Speaking to media following the occasion, MP Weerawansa claimed he will not work to bring back any individual within the present government to power.
The Parliamentarian said the Minister of Finance displayed his arrogance during yesterday’s All Party Conference by failing to address former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in a respectable manner.
He said the All Party Conference was called with the aim of uniting and discussing procedures adding however the Finance Minister sought conflict at the meeting.
MP Weerawansa said the country cannot move forward with such individuals in power.
When questioned by media on reports of a conspiracy to discredit Minister Basil Rajapaksa with aim of promoting Minister Namal Rajapaksa in 2025, MP Weerawansa claimed he will not campaign to bring any member of the Rajapaksa family to power.
He said such statements are made by individuals who fear losing their public mandate.
The MP claimed he is in engaged in politics as he is a patriot and not with the aim of obtaining Ministerial portfolios.
He said the 11 parties resorted to the current course of action as they cannot let the country to be colonized or allow state resources to be sold to foreign nations.
