The JVP charges the government of using decisions reached by the Cabinet of Ministers for business purposes at their whims and fancies.
Speaking to media today, Former JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti said the government is siphoning money to their personal accounts, through every crisis reported in the country at present.
He recalled of scams related to garlic, sugar and coconut oil after the incumbent government came in to power.
Handunnetti added the public has been burned with the rising cost of living, while businessmen are unable to engage in the trade.
He said public funds were being used to benefit a few beneficiaries with close affiliations to the government.
The Former JVP MP was also expressed his regret at the government’s delay in reaching firm decisions pertaining to resolving teacher principal salary anomalies.
Former JVP MP Handunnetti said the government has funds to import fertiliser and pay for it in excess, while treating the teachers issue as a secondary concern.
He questioned why the government has failed to provide an answer to the fertiliser crisis, despite having the ability to directly import stocks.
