The Opposition has requested that all volumes that have not been published so far of the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks be made public.

Speaking during a media briefing, Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahuman requested the government to at least deposit the volumes in the Parliamentary Library.

MP Rahuman said Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and they have only been provided with a summary of the report.

The Parliamentarian said the report contains some important testimonies including testimonies from the wife of Zahran Hashim and former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, DIG Ravi Seneviratne.

MP Rahuman said DIG Seneviratne had revealed to the PCOI that there was an individual above Zahran Hashim adding he was unable to arrest the person during his tenure to which the Commission requested DIG Seneviratne to write down the name of the individual.

The Parliamentarian said the identity of this individual has not yet been revealed. MP Rahuman said the government has no real interest in revealing the suspects who were above Zahran Hashim adding this has created opposition from the society at present.

He said Zahran Hashim did not commit the crime on behalf of the Muslim community adding the attack was carried out for the benefit of another group.

The Parliamentarian said it is paramount to investigate who funded and created the opportunity for the attack adding this was a national atrocity.

He said the present administration is engaged in investigating who was under Zahran Hashim and not those who enabled Zahran Hashim.
