The Samagi Jana Balawegaya reiterates that the government is unwilling to accept the leadership of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Parliamentarian Ranjith Madduma Bandara said government MPs are not adhering to the advice of the Prime Minister adding that the Premier lacks control over the government.
MP Bandara said according to reports they received yesterday, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was in favour of appointing a female Deputy Speaker without a vote being taken.
However, the MP said this morning MP Basil Rajapaksa has claimed that the position of Deputy Speaker should be held by a representative of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and a vote should be called.
MP Bandara highlighted that there is an internal struggle within Parliament.
The MP said citizens requested the support of the opposition as the country is facing a grave economic crisis.
MP Bandara said opposition members agreed that posts within the government will not be accepted while they will support the government’s efforts to address the crisis in the country.
