Govt to take forward the PTA amendment process

The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Foreign has agreed to present the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Bill in Parliament for second reading.

The Department of Communication Parliament said the Consultative Committee of Foreign approved the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Bill when it met under the patronage of Foreign Minister GL Peiris.

The Bill was presented in Parliament for its first reading on the 10th of February.

Accordingly, the Bill inclusive of amendments in accordance with the Determination of the Supreme Court, has been approved at the Ministerial Consultative Committee and the report is scheduled to be presented to Parliament during the forthcoming sitting week.
