The Government says they will complete goals they missed due to the pandemic, within the next three years.
Speaking to media yesterday, Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage said public hardship and increasing cost of living were issues brought about by the global effects of coronavirus.
The Minister said Sri Lanka lost many streams of foreign revenue due to the pandemic, including the highest contribution of USD 5 billion from the tourism sector and the remittances from expatriates.
Minister Aluthgamage explained that the government faced an economic crisis due to such issues.
He explained that Sri Lanka will face more problems with the increase of shipping and insurance fees as it is dependent on imports.
The Minister accepted that the cost of living has increased exponentially in Sri Lanka due to such factors. However he promised to deliver on their election pledge during the upcoming three years.
