The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the present government has obtained loans amounting to Rs.2.3 trillion in 2021 alone.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Parliamentarian SM Marikkar questioned as to what such a large sum of funds were used for.

However, MP Marikkar charged that large sums in loans were obtained by then President Mahinda Rajapaksa to construct the Lotus Tower, ports, grounds, airports, and to hire charter flights for family trips.
He said the loans helped construct attractions that were not beneficial or profitable to the people and instead made all citizens debtors.
He also claimed that there is a great disturbance among the public over the present developments in the country.
MP Harin Fernando joining the media said an anti-government protest will be staged together with the two million farming community on the 16th of November.
The MP said the President issued a stern warning to the farming community in a recent speech.
