The JVP claims the present government does not have an understanding or a plan to tackle the major economic crisis that Sri Lanka is predicted to face in the future.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, former JVP Parliamentarian Nalinda Jayatissa said the present government is only interested in achieving its political objectives.
Former MP Jayatissa said Sri Lanka is at the brink of its worst socio-economic and political crisis in the modern history but the government is not keen on taking any preventing measures.
He said the people are yet to experience the real impact of the economic crisis.
The former JVP Parliamentarian added that the decisions taken by the President and the government are a clear indication that the present administration is not equipped to handle a major crisis.
Nalinda Jayatissa said the government is attempting to resolve the political crisis which is a result of the economic issues by merely transferring or changing the portfolio of Ministers.
He said the government is more focused on consolidating it powers by address the political issues.
Former JVP Parliamentarian Nalinda Jayatissa said however such measures will not be adequate to address the economic crisis.
