The Government Medical Officers Association says the government and the Ministry of Health do not pay sufficient attention to unidentified kidney related illnesses.
The GMOA said the government must introduce a stringent programme to protect people from various kidney related illnesses especially the farming community.
Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Senal Fernando speaking at a media briefing yesterday said, just as attention was directed to mitigating COVID-19 attention must be paid to unidentified kidney related illnesses especially cases reported in the North Central Province.
Dr. Fernando said failure to address these illnesses has led to diseases spreading significantly.
Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Naveen de Zoysa highlighted the importance of moving to organic fertiliser in order to protect oneself from non-communicable diseases and to ensure healthy living.
