Parliamentarian Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said if the corrupt environment does not change, economic experts will not be able to direct the country in the right direction.
Addressing a gathering in Kelaniya, the MP said a country free of corruption must be established for economic experts to make decisions freely.
MP Fonseka said former Central Bank Governor WD Lakshman resigned from the post claiming he cannot continue his operations.
The MP said the former Governor said having economic experts is futile if the government lacks a vision to develop the country.
MP Fonseka added there are many learned individuals who have even completed studies in reputed foreign universities.
However he noted that they cannot work in a corrupt environment adding that this much change.
The Parliamentarian also charged that there is a lack of transparency, audits, and resources are being misused.
He claimed that a corruption free country must be ensured across all sectors.
