The JVP claims the group of leaders that led the country to destruction through poor economic decisions must step down.

Leader of the JVP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake speaking in Parliament today said the President, Prime Minister, and the Cabinet of Ministers should be held responsible for the country’s current state.

MP Dissanayake said the economic journey was put through turmoil during the past two years.

He added the Minister of Finance acknowledging that the decisions of the past were mistakes, is insufficient.

The MP said that these are not simple mistakes and have brought about severe repercussions.

The MP further questioned that if the loss of Rs.650 billion was minor through Samurdhi benefits, adding that the decision to suspend the distribution of chemical fertiliser was the worst mistake.

MP Dissanayake claimed the irregular printing of money directly contributed to the economic crisis.

The JVP leader questioned if ruining the economy, not providing citizens medication, healthcare services, fertiliser, food, and raw materials can be justified.

The MP added such decisions cannot be considered minor mistakes and called for those responsible to be held accountable including the President, the Cabinet, the Ministers of Finance, and the Prime Minister.
