The National People’s Power says people who cast their vote with the hope that the country will be uplifted, now feel betrayed and deceived.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo Leader of the JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka said, the country and the people are experiencing the results of social, economic and political policies followed by the country over a long period of time.
He noted all sectors show that the country and its people have no future, adding that the economy is facing a grave crisis, with the debt crisis playing a major role.
The MP added the income of the Treasury and foreign reserves are insufficient to repay loan instalments, and as a result the government has commenced printing money excessively.
MP Dissanayaka said the government is showing that it lacks a stringent economic tactic to overcome the present economic crisis.
He claimed the present administration is moving fast along an outdated journey and is heading towards a crisis and destitution.
Joining the media briefing Parliamentarian Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said the public faced two major betrayals in the recent political history.
She said in 2015 the public stood together to bring the good governance government to power and they were betrayed to a point where they were fed up of good governance.
The MP claimed in 2019 the people were betrayed once again based on promises of national security and sovereignty.
MP Amarasuriya said at present people who were battered by betrayals are now looking for solutions through various means.
She claimed however the same old forces are now preparing to come out with a fresh look to deceive and betray the people once again.
She therefore invited all progressive people and organisations to join the party in order to change the people’s fate.
