Parliamentarian Velu Kumar claims the opposition warned the government ahead of time to stringently manage the due foreign loan instalments.
However, the MP charged that the government only levelled allegations at the opposition.
Speaking to media in Kandy yesterday the MP said the opposition repeatedly called for debt restructuring and to seek IMF support, warning that Sri Lanka will not have sufficient dollars, power, or fuel.
The MP added when such concerns were raised the government accused the opposition of instilling unwarranted fear in the public.
However, the Parliamentarian claimed that today such warnings have become a reality.
He charged the government of lacking a stringent programme to uplift the country.
