Trade unionist Ananda Palitha alleges that the government has taken steps to limit the fuel supply to the public as an act of vengeance.
Ananda Palitha speaking to NewsRadio said fuel was being distributed to people with political affiliations at the Kolonnawa Storage Terminal without any limitations.
Palitha said this is a ploy by the government to suppress the people’s struggles.
He said 85% of the public are without fuel and in queues, adding that 800 to 900 fuel bowsers are not being distributed stringently.
He said only 100 to 125 bowsers were being transported at present.
He noted that the government is working with a plan in place and is controlling operations.
He charged that political henchmen are allowed to bring in containers with barrels, including vans and buses to obtain fuel at the Kolonnawa Storage Terminal, while the public’s use of fuel is being restricted.
Palitha said if the government is in possession of unlimited fuel it must be distributed diligently.
Ananda Palitha said the government is resorting to such measures on purpose in the hope of suppressing the public engaged in a struggle.
