Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa claims the government is today facing the consequences of spreading extremism.
Speaking during an event to provide digital computer screens and computer equipment to a school in Mannar, the Opposition Leader questioned the government on how it will provide a solution to malnutrition when it was unable to provide a solution for school children to study online.
MP Premadasa claimed there is a severe medicine shortage at hospitals and charged the government of creating a queuing era in the country once again.
He added queues have formed to purchase gas, rice, dhal and sugar.
The Opposition Leader said the Minister of Energy had claimed fuel stocks in the country will only last till the end of mid-January.
He noted if there is a fuel shortage the country’s industry system will collapse, production will decrease, people will lose jobs and their livelihood, and people’s living status will drop further.
The MP said the country will be pushed towards destitute adding however the government does not have a solution.
MP Premadasa claimed although the government attempted to deceive the people, the public has not forgotten how they were deceived at the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
