State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura says the government cannot provide concessions to all imports.
State Minister Wakkumbura said since prices of all commodities have increased globally, the country and the people also have to bear the burden.
Speaking to media in Embilipitiya, He said although they can provide local produce at lower rates, imported products will fluctuate based on international rates.
The State Minister said they cannot provide relief for all products adding even if they did; the public will eventually have to pay for it through taxes.
State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura said therefore they are not pleased with the price increases or the rise in cost of living but claimed that such matters are not in the control of the government.
State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura meanwhile claimed that rejecting nano Nitrogen liquid fertiliser imported from India without experimenting them is not reasonable.
The State Minister said some have rejected such stocks even without trying them or based on hearsay. He said such products have been imported after thorough tests.
State Minister Wakkumbura claimed that it is important that crops are given the required nitrogen through organic or other means.
The State Minister said despite a mass boycott initially, the public has commenced using nano Nitrogen liquid fertilizer on their produce now.
