State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Channa Jayasumana says regardless of various protests staged by the opposition, the government cannot be changed at present.
Speaking to NewsRadio Channa Jayasumana said Parliament can only be dissolved after two and a half years.
The State Minister also claimed over six months have lapsed since the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was administered to people, including those who got it on the 15th of May.
He noted tests conducted globally have shown that immunity reduces gradually after six months since the second dose was administered.
State Minister Jayasumana said under the prevailing situation the opposition calling people to the street is not a heroic act, adding it is regrettable.
He noted as a responsible opposition, protests must be staged in a new and creative way, instead of putting people in harms way.
