Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa charges the government of attempting to hamper children’s education through its reluctance to resolve prevailing issues in the education sector.

Issuing a statement, the Opposition Leader said Sri Lanka’s education system is facing its darkest days in history.

MP Premadasa said it is regretful that authorities do not understand the current and future serious impact and destruction it will cause.

The Opposition Leader stressed the government has failed to take a successful step regarding teachers and principals salary anomalies, online education coming to a halt and universities and other state and private education institutions being closed.

MP Premadasa urged the government to provide a favourable solution to teachers and principals salary anomalies and provide a suitable vaccine against COVID-19 to students of schools and universities and reopen education institutions promptly.
