The Samagi Jana Balawegaya charges that instead of resolving issues faced by society, the government is using its mandate to acquit themselves from cases.
MP Tissa Attanayake speaking to media in Kandy yesterday said the government must understand that the public granted a two-thirds majority to the government not to fulfil their personal interests.
MP Attanayake said livelihoods have been affected, production has been brought to a standstill while the independence of the judiciary has been compromised and the public has lost faith in the law.
He added a verdict being issued after the hearing of a case is acceptable, claiming that the Attorney General prematurely withdrawing a case cannot be condoned.
The Parliamentarian said within a democratic framework such a move is unacceptable.
He charged that this indicates the publics disregard to the issues of the public and their selfish ways of solving their personal matters.
