The Foreign Ministry says the government is taking high level measures to resolve the issue concerning the detention of a Russian Aeroflot aircraft.
Issuing a statement the Ministry said the court case which resulted in the flight being detained, has not concluded.
Meanwhile, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva is due to make a special statement to media regarding the issue, later today.
Yesterday, Russian carrier Aeroflot decided to temporarily halt flights between Moscow and Colombo, in protest of its Airbus A330 which was detained at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
The Colombo Commercial High Court issued an injunction order last Thursday, preventing a Russian Aeroflot A330 from leaving Sri Lanka.
Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Harsha Sethunga issued the injunction order on the respondent Russian airline after considering a complaint filed by an Irish aviation company.
The Colombo Commercial High Court on Wednesday will consider a request by Aeroflot, to lift the injunction order.
The court order was imposed, over a dispute on lease payments.
