The Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists says the government ignoring the opinions of medical professionals other than doctors has paved way to many issues.
Speaking to media yesterday, President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh said they will be forced to intensify their strike action if the health ministry continues to take the demands of such medical personnel lightly.
He blamed the Secretary of the Health Ministry for the inconvenience caused to health professionals excluding doctors.
Kumudesh pointed out that the Ministry Secretary did not listen to the opinions of such health professionals and also ignored suggestions presented from frontline and grassroot level workers.
Therefore, he requested the President to intervene and solve the issue.
Kumudesh also claimed that the new Health Minister understands the situation within the Ministry and therefore called on Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to find a solution to these concerns.
Kumudesh requested Minister Rambukwella to mediate and resolve the issues between both parties.
He also requested that the Health Ministry to expedite the process of issuing circulars for decisions taken by the Cabinet of Ministers.
