The government has played down on the claims that it has already lost its majority in Parliament.

Minister Nalaka Godahewa said the real status regarding the strength of the government and the opposition will only be revealed when the No-Confidence Motion is taken of up for a vote in Parliament.

When questioned by media over the government losing its majority in Parliament, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalaka Godahewa claimed that to their knowledge no other individuals except for the 39 Parliamentarians have declared themselves independent from the government.

Minister Godahewa added that the government is unable to substantiate any statements over Parliamentary majority at present.
