The MP said they would have commenced the vaccination drive earlier adding the vaccination drive at present is not at a satisfactory level.
Commenting on the risk of the coronavirus spreading among children, MP Senaratne said the government must be more responsible when reaching decisions pertaining to children.
He said the government previously claimed schools will commence with 50% capacity adding however schools reopened at full capacity recently. The MP said this results in a higher risk of the virus spreading.
MP Senaratne said children contracting COVID-19 is more serious than an adult being infected since children’s immunity levels are low compared to an adult. He added a student already succumbed to the virus.
