The Government Medical Officers’ Association says the Central Committee has decided to stage a trade union action at state hospitals in five districts, as planned from Monday.
Accordingly, the trade union action will affect services at state hospitals in the Mannar, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts.
Speaking to media in Colombo, Member of the GMOA Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa said they are protesting over the deployment of post-internship doctors without the approval of the transfer board.
Dr. Sugathadasa said authorities must follow the transfer protocol and receive approval from the transfer board when issuing appointments.
He said if favourable solutions are not provided, the GMOA with the consent of the Central Committee will intensify the union action and stage protests across the country.
