The Government Medical Officers Association has called off the one day token strike that was due to be worked off on Monday.
When contacted by NewsRadio, Executive Committee member of the GMOA Dr. Ruwan Jayasooriya said the token strike was called off following talks with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella last evening.
Dr. Jayasooriya said a decision was reached to adhere to the national salary policy and to make suitable amendments and to address concerns in the transfers of doctors.
Accordingly, the GMOA strike that was due to be worked off on Monday, the 21st, was called off temporarily until their grievances are addressed.
The GMOA expressed hope that the government and the subject Ministry will take genuine measures to address their concerns.
