The Government Medical Officers’ Association says the Minister of Health must be held responsible in the event disruptions are reported in the health sector in future.
GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr. Naveen de Zoysa speaking at a media briefing yesterday said if certain actions of the GMOA affects the health sector, any disruptions should be blamed on the government.
Dr. de Zoysa attributed this claim to the current Health Minister’s failure to correct discrepancies in the health sector reported during the period of the former government.
Dr. de Zoysa meanwhile urged the public to obtain the Pfizer booster vaccine dose without any fear.
He said the need for a booster shot has been highlighted, adding that the timely launch of the vaccination drive ensured the country’s safety.
The GMOA Assistant Secretary said in order to continue this progress into 2022, the government will continue administering vaccine doses.
Dr. de Zoysa claimed sufficient vaccine doses are available, adding the public must now ensure they are vaccinated to ensure the safety of themselves and their families.
