Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe assures to reduce the domestic gas cylinder shortage by the end of this month or by the first week of August.
Speaking in Parliament today, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe confirmed that Sri Lanka will receive 33,000MT of LP gas in the next four weeks.
The Prime Minister noted that if the gas shipment arrives as planned, they hope to release 112,000 gas cylinders daily to the market.
Premier Wickremesinghe noted that parallel to the domestic gas cylinder distribution, LP gas will be released to bakeries and small businesses.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stressed that they have procured LP gas required for the next four months.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said they will continue to provide concessions to fishermen.
The Premier noted that fuel is being provided at concessionary rates to fisherfolk at present.
The Prime Minister said the prices of kerosene oil will have to be increased in future adding however the government will provide the difference in cash to fishermen.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said they will safeguard the fishing industry and noted that all concessions given to fisherfolk will be continued despite the current economic climate in the country.
