Former Minister Udaya Gammanpila and representatives of 11 political parties representing the government will convene today to determine future measures.

Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila were sacked from their Ministerial portfolios yesterday by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa according to powers vested in him through the Constitution.

MP Gammanpila held the post of Minister of Energy while Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa held the post of Minister of Industries previously.

Minister Gamini Lokuge, who previously held the post of Minister of Power, was appointed as the new Minister of Energy. Meanwhile SB Dissanayake was appointed as the new Minister of Industries.

The position was previously held by Wimal Weerawansa.

Parliamentarian Gammanpila expressed his views to media after visiting his office to retrieve certain personal items that were at the Ministry of Energy last night.

Former Minister Gammanpila said he was not ready to sacrifice his self respect for an uncertain Ministerial portfolio.

The Former Minister said he accepted cowardly decisions by the government to silence the truth.

He assured that all statements made to media by him was the truth, adding that government officials will wear the hat if it fits.

The Former Minister said they did not censor every statement in hopes of protecting their ministerial portfolio, but instead went head on to reveal the truth.

He said the government can avert the economic crisis if it follows the plan put forward by him.

When questioned on his hopes of joining the opposition, the former Minister said decisions will be taken after today’s meeting of 11 political parties representing the government.
