The driver of Minister of Energy Gamini Lokuge has been murdered at his residence in Mawiththara, Kesbewa.
Police said the deceased is a 41 year old father of two.
Police said the individual was beaten to death with clubs and stabbed with sharp objects by a group of individuals last evening over a personal dispute that stemmed from the victim driving in a reckless manner.
The suspects have fled the area while investigations are underway to arrest the group.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Sanath Nishantha has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department.
