Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says all politicians irrespective of political affiliations must contribute to overcoming current challenges at a time that the country is faced with a major crisis.
Speaking to media in Tangalle, Minister Amaraweera said it is inappropriate of the government to create internal conflicts or conflicts with the opposition instead of overcoming existing challenges.
Commenting on criticism levelled by certain backbenchers of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the Minister said according to his knowledge the President, the Prime Minister and Minister Basil Rajapaksa met with SLPP backbenchers and briefed them on the sacrifices of the SLFP in ensuring victory at the 2019 Presidential Election.
Minister Amaraweera said the SLFP does not seek to escalate the situation.
The Minister said their current concerns were not party politics but the future of the country
