The JVP reveals that fuel prices will likely be increased at midnight today.
Chief Secretary of the party Tilvin Silva speaking at a media briefing charged that fuel prices were increased to Rs.400 and will go beyond Rs.500.
Silva said there is public anger and dislike towards the President and the government and especially towards the Prime Minister.
Silva said the public’s issues have worsened and a solution is nowhere in sight with the longest fuel queues being witnessed since Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe’s appointment.
He noted that the appointment of the Prime Minister has worsened the country’s issues, while he is focused on protecting the Rajapaksas and suppressing protesters.
He noted that the protesters are not criminals.
Tilvin Silva also stated that public opinion cannot be suppressed through the arrest of protesters.
Silva said all protesters who have been arrested should be released without any conditions.
