Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says 1,044 filling stations across the island have received stocks of both diesel and petrol during the past three days.
The Minister said 40 stations have not received either stocks.
He noted that most stations are inactive, have not ordered or have suspended services.
Minister Wijesekera said urban filling stations are provided stocks twice daily, while some are provided stocks once daily and all other filling stations every other day.
Meanwhile, on a separate note the Minister said 600 litres of illegally stored fuel has been seized in Matara yesterday.
The Minister said raids are being conducted island wide on illegally stocked petroleum products that are being prepared to be resold.
He said it has been observed that three-wheelers and transport vehicles are repeatedly joining fuel lines to obtain fuel to be resold.
