The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the proposal by the Minister of Tourism to grant free-of-charge visa extension to Russian and Ukrainian tourists in Sri Lanka.

The government on the 28th of February initially decided to grant a two-month visa extension to Russian and Ukrainian tourists in Sri Lanka due to the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

However, since the crisis between the two countries has not yet subsided, the Cabinet has approved the proposal to extend the visa period further of Ukrainian and Russian tourists currently in Sri Lanka.
