The Association of Health Professionals says neither the Minister of Health, the President nor the government have the ability to detect technical thefts within the Ministry of Health.
The Association said officials of the Ministry are committing various fraudulent acts in accordance with the law of the land and are taking advantage of shortcomings of laws.
They requested authorities to appoint technicians with knowledge in the field for institutions such as the Criminal Investigation Department.
President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh speaking at a media briefing today said regardless of debates held in Parliament over technical matters, Members of Parliament are unaware of the technicalities.
He claimed that when a mobile lab was due to be donated, the move was opposed claiming that sufficient tests are not being carried out, PCR tests can be carried out elsewhere at a lesser cost or that test reports cannot be located.
Kumudesh said these issues arise due to interference by officials and individuals who claim to be technical experts.
