A decision has been reached to increase the number of flights in operation between China and Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, three flights will be in operation between China and Sri Lanka this week.
The President’s Media Division said SriLankan Airlines flights will travel to China more frequently.
The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong held discussions in this regard with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House in Fort.
The Ambassador briefed the President on the Chinese financial assistance and aid provided to Sri Lanka and future areas of support that the Chinese government hopes to extend.
The PMD said it was also revealed that Sri Lankan students will be able to return to Sri Lanka to pursue higher studies in the field of medicine.
Bilateral discussions were also held pertaining to enhancing trade and economic activities.
President Rajapaksa meanwhile thanked China for the support extended amidst the economic crisis as a friendly nation.
