Five persons including former Deputy Minister Pandu Bandaranayke, who were arrested on suspicion of an elephant pearl sale, have been remanded till the 7th of April.
The order was issued by the Ampara Magistrate’s Court. The raid was carried out by the Police Special Task Force at a restaurant in Ampara.
The STF seized three elephant pearls, a foreign made pistol, eight clips of ammunition, five unidentified rocks and a luxury motor vehicle in the suspect’s possession.
The suspects were identified as residents of Gampaha and Kadawatha.
