Five persons have been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport for attempting to smuggle foreign currency worth approximately Rs. 42 million to Dubai.
Three females and two males have been apprehended by the Sri Lanka Customs.
Officials have seized 22,300 US dollars, 63,500 Euros, 8,725 Sterling Pounds, 292,000 Saudi Arabian Riyals and 75 UAE Dirhams from the suspects’ possession.
Further investigations are underway.
