The All Island General Fisheries Federation is hopeful that taxes imposed on fisheries equipment will be removed through the 2022 Budget.
National Organiser Rathna Gamage speaking to NewsRadio said fishermen require fuel concessions as they are severely burdened by the fuel price hike.
He said fuel prices were increased five months ago and despite repeated requests, they have not received any requests.
Gamage added they have requested tax relief for equipment used by fisherfolk since prices have increased exponentially.
He also requested the government make large allocations through the Budget to develop fisheries harbours across the country.
