The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has attributed the government’s poor financial management as the main reason for the current economic crisis.
Speaking to media today, Parliamentarian SM Marikkar said the government that disregarded daily wage earners at a time that inflation is rising daily, is also ignoring demands made by various parties calling for a lockdown in order to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
MP Marikkar said printing Rs.880 billion in currency at the Biyagama factory was the reason for the rise in inflation adding the country does not have any dollars.
The Parliamentarian responding to the government’s claims that the teacher-principal protests held during the past few weeks caused the current spread of the pandemic said, the protests ended 15 days ago questioning if any participants of the protests contracted the virus and if any deaths were reported.
He requested members of the government to refrain from making false claims through media.
MP Marikkar said the country’s economy must be saved from the government’s rash decisions.
