National People’s Power Member of Parliament Harini Amarasuriya says Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa cannot be allowed to skip parliamentary sessions at a time when the country is facing an economic crisis.
Speaking during the Ratnapura District NPP Convention, MP Amarasuriya said they have no faith in the present administration.
She said the government has been unable to even deliver a collective statement on the country’s situation.
MP Amarasuriya noted that Minister Basil Rajapaksa last addressed Parliament in December.
She said the Finance Minister has not been attending Parliamentary sessions to respond to concerns raised by MPs.
The Parliamentarian noted that the Head of State has also not made a statement on the current crisis.
MP Harini Amarasuriya added that those making statements on behalf of the government have attempted to portray that there are no crises in the country at present.
