The final vote on the 2022 Budget will take place this evening.
The debate on the expenditure heads of the Ministry of Finance, the State Ministry of Money and Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms, the State Ministry of Samurdhi Household Economy, Micro-finance, Self-Employment and Business Development is taking place at present in Parliament.
The vote on the third reading will take place shortly. The 2022 Budget proposal was tabled in Parliament by Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa on the 12th of November.
The second reading of the Budget was passed in Parliament with a majority of 93 votes on the 22nd of November.
153 Members of Parliament voted in favour while 60 MPs voted against.
