A female has been reported missing after jumping into the Mahaweli River in Mahiyanganaya.
Police said a young couple had jumped into the Mahaweli River last evening, while the man had swam ashore to safety.
The girl who was reported missing is a resident of Gasgolla, Rideemaliyadda.
It was revealed that she left home last morning claiming to be going for tuition classes.
Police, Navy and area residents are conducting further search operations in the Mahaweli River to find her.
The draft of the 21st Amendment to the Constitution is expected to be finalized by next week.
