Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian SB Dissanayake says farmers have suffered heavy losses due to the fertiliser crisis adding Nuwara Eliya vegetable farmers have been devastated.

Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, MP Dissanayake said he hoped that the government would serve justice to the victims.

The MP said the fault cannot be laid on Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage adding that the entire government must accept the responsibility.

He said all decisions pertaining to fertiliser were reached with a good objective.

The MP said all world leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) reached a decision to rid the world of fossil fuels.

He claimed all chemical substances are fossil fuels.

On a separate note, Parliamentarian SB Dissanayake claimed that the incident in which eggs were thrown at the vehicle of the Leader of the JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake was perpetrated by members of the Frontline Socialist Party.

MP Dissanayake said there had been clashes between the FSP and the JVP within universities in the past.

The Parliamentarian said FSP activists have a history of attacking JVP members from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Colombo and the University of Kelaniya.

He claimed the SLPP had no involvement in the incident adding if they in fact wanted to attack the JVP they would have done so by using state power.
