The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says farmers are facing difficulties in farming crops during the season, due to a fertiliser shortage.
Speaking to media today SJB Parliamentarian Kins Nelson said farmers in Polonnaruwa are not ready to harvest for the maha season.
The MP said compost production is a long and hard process that could take up to 10 years.
Therefore the Parliamentarian added it is unjust to pay farmers Rs.10,000 and compel them to refrain from requesting fertiliser from the government.
MP Nelson added the current administration came into power promising free fertiliser to farmers.
However he said farmers are helpless and have lost both paddy sales and fertiliser in a short time span.
