The National People’s Power says a fair law is needed in order for a country to move forward.
Speaking during the Gampaha District conference held yesterday Leader of the party Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake said no one believes justice will be served in legal proceedings which involve the country’s political authority.
He claimed people are able to assume the verdict based on who is involved in legal cases.
MP Dissanayake noted therefore the government has failed to establish the supremacy of the law and fairness, adding only the NPP can establish law and fairness within the country.
He noted the party does not have corrupt individuals and criminals within the party.
He claimed only parties with corrupt individuals will have to influence the judiciary.
Meanwhile JVP Politburo Member Mahinda Jayasinghe condemned the incident in which eggs were thrown at MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s vehicle, at the conference.
When inquired by NewsRadio Mahinda Jayasinghe said the suspects revealed a government Minister was behind the incident.
He noted the conference was launched around 3.30pm following which a group of mobsters with links to local authority officials had thrown eggs towards the conference hall.
He said area residents and a group which attended the conference had caught two of them and handed them over to the Nittambuwa Police.
Jayasinghe claimed the suspects had stated they have links to Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and a famous company in the maritime security sector.
He stressed the government will not be able to stop the journey of the NPP through such attacks.
