Expenditure heads of the Ministries of Defence and Public Security and State Ministries of National Security and Disaster Management, Home Affairs and Community Police Services were passed in Parliament.
Day 10 of the committee stage debate on the 2022 Budget took place between 10am 5.15pm today.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Harshana Rajakaruna said the public is still waiting for answers pertaining to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
MP Rajakaruna said since the government has been unable to track down the masterminds behind the attacks, it is prudent to seek an international investigation.
MP Rajakaruna said not only the Catholics, but himself as a Buddhist and the majority Buddhist community is waiting for the perpetrators to be convicted.
The Parliamentarian said the Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith and the entire public must be convinced that investigations are adequate in order to rebuild faith in the process.
He said in order to do so investigations must be handed over to the Scotland Yard or a similar international organisation.
The Parliamentarian said a statement is yet to be recorded from the former Attorney General after his claim that there was a conspiracy behind the Easter attacks.
MP Rajakaruna questioned why an international investigation had not yet been conducted under these circumstances.
Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila said they hope to utilise State Intelligence Service to put to rest three claims arising in the society that those involved in the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks were coerced.
Minster Gammanpila said the government is able to identify the individuals who were in contact with suspects using telephone records but are unable to know the exact details of the conversations.
He said they are also able to identify the locations visited by these individuals through CCTV footage adding however they have no chance of knowing what was done at the locations.
The Minister said the Police faced a very difficult investigation as no families will admit to the fact that these perpetrators were involved in terrorist activities.
Minster Gammanpila said investigation into terrorism will take a long time claiming anyone who forces for charges to be filed are supporting the wrongdoers.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Premnath C Dolawatte said the then-government should have prevented the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, if they were aware that members of the present administration were responsible.
MP Dolawatte said members of the then government must be punished claiming they were aware of the attacks beforehand.
The Parliamentarian said the opposition cannot save face by passing the blame to the government.
